Hail across North Dakota
North Dakota recorded 2,105 hail events of one inch or larger over the last 10 years, in 53 of its counties, along with 2,318 damaging wind events and 266 tornadoes.
Where it falls is uneven. The counties that took the most:
| County | Hail events | Largest |
|---|---|---|
| Morton County | 93 | 4.00" |
| Cass County | 90 | 2.50" |
| Burleigh County | 69 | 4.50" |
| Grant County | 68 | 3.00" |
| Grand Forks County | 66 | 2.50" |
| Stark County | 62 | 3.00" |
Roof claims are what most homeowners end up filing, and policies differ most in how they pay for a roof — replacement cost or depreciated value — and in whether a separate, larger wind and hail deductible applies.
